Tired of your same old lunchtimes? Frustrated with the crowded SSCs? Discover our school’s hidden gems to switch up your break time/lunchtime hangouts or find a peaceful study location. So, in no particular order, here are the top 7 underappreciated areas in school!

Art Room Terrace
Art Room Terrace
  1. The art room terrace

To all the seniors: Go here during your free periods! Bathed in sunlight, with the occasional breeze, the art room terrace is the perfect place to go for a relaxing yet productive study session. To get here, climb up the hard-to-miss blue staircase behind the pool.

I&S Block Back Staircase
I&S Block Back Staircase
  1. The I&S block back staircase

A cozy staircase with just the right amount of sunlight, overlooking the Sarah Roe Building. It’s a great spot for a lunch break, particularly if you have an I&S subject during period 5. But be warned: It’s only a great place if you don’t mind the hike to get up here.

Jungle Trail

  1. The Jungle Trail

Lunchtime walks here are perfect. There’s a wooden table on the trail that’s seen better days, but if you can look past the jutting-out screws and the occasional ant colony, it's perfect for when you finally decide to touch grass.

Turtle Pond
Turtle Pond
  1. The turtle pond

Arguably the most peaceful place in the entire school. The turtles are adorable. If you want some vitamin D in the summer, this place is perfect for you!

Car Park

  1. The car park

Don’t underestimate the car park! It’s not just for vehicles, but also great for lunchtime strolls, and there are quite a few areas where a group can sit and eat lunch. However, some people have already staked their claim on this territory so make sure to get here early!

LEC Area
LEC Area
  1. The LEC area

The table behind the LEC may be popular during break/ lunch times, but it’s completely underrated during free periods. The umbrella makes it easy to see your computer screen, and its slightly secluded location keeps you from being disturbed. If you have a free period 4th, its proximity to the canteen is a major bonus – you can grab lunch even  before the teachers.

Performing Arts Back Staircase

  1. The Performing Arts back staircase

Back staircases at our school are highly undervalued. This quiet, tucked-away staircase has an air of mystery—some might even say it feels a little haunted. While it may not seem very exciting to some, its isolated and slightly eerie atmosphere speaks for itself. Sometimes, simplicity is all you need.

So, if you ever have a lunch break to spare, why not explore some of these nooks and crannies? You might be surprised.
