Fun Facts

The cookie got its name from the Dutch word koekje meaning “little cake”.


The chocolate chip cookie was actually invented by mistake! In the 1930s, the owner of an inn in Massachusetts added broken chocolate chips to cookie batter, thinking that they would melt. Instead, a new recipe was born.


The inventor of the cookie later sold her rights to the chocolate chip cookie recipe to Nestle for just a dollar and a lifetime supply of chocolate.


Pizzelles, a traditional Italian waffle cookie, are the oldest known cookie.


Animal crackers were first designed to be ornaments for Christmas trees.
