Our Year 13 heroes

Updated: Apr 15

Some of you may have seen the big, well-designed, bubbly numbers on the wall of the SSC, with the label above; “Last Day of Y13!” This article is a dedication to the approaching graduates of 2025, who have made a lasting impact on their younger peers in KGV. Below you may find messages written by members of the KGV community reflecting on their personal experiences with a soon-to-be graduate!

  • A message to Alvin Lam: “My favorite chess club leader, Alvin Lam, is the heart and soul of our team. His passion for chess is contagious, bringing out the best in players at all levels to enhance their skills and enjoy the game. Through hard work and determination, he conducts motivational lessons, fosters a positive environment, and shares strategic expertise that elevates our game to new heights. Alvin's encouragement makes everyone feel valued. Whether guiding beginners or challenging advanced players, his leadership unites us. I'm grateful for his tireless efforts—Lion’s Chess thrives because of him. Thank you Alvin! I really appreciate it.” - Ivan, Y9

And finally, a big, special thanks to our Year 13 TLC legacy members, Anna, Andrea, Ashley and Steph. Your dedication to the newspaper has been nothing short of enlightening, and our team would not be in the position and status that it is without you setting up the fundamental building blocks of this project.

We hope our readers, especially our Y13s, feel the warmth and affection of these messages written out of love. On behalf of the entire TLC team, we wish you all the best of luck in your final exams and projects, and we anticipate you visiting us in the near future as KGV alumni!
